Abstract

This study examines the social references in the poetry of Ibn Abd Rabbih al-Andalusi, highlighting how these references shaped the artistic and semantic structure of his texts. The research demonstrates the interplay between Arab-Islamic heritage and the rich Andalusian environment, as well as the diversity of cultural and social influences. It analyzes how the poet embodied social values, rituals, and human relationships in his works, drawing on symbols from nature and cultural traditions. The study underscores the importance of understanding cultural references to interpret literary texts within their social and historical contexts. The research is organized into four sections: the first introduces the concept of reference, the second defines social reference, the third explores manifestations of Andalusian and Arab identity in Ibn Abd Rabbih’s poetry, and the fourth addresses representations of social relations among members of the same community as reflected in poetic themes.
