الملخص

        People worldwide were suffering from covid-19 and developed a wide range of mental health problems. The spread of the Corona virus has had great psychological effects on people, and because of the increase in the number of infections and deaths, as a result, more people have developed feelings of anxiety and fear. That lead people to feel dissatisfied with their lives. People behave during the spread of epidemics and disasters in different ways for many reasons, this including environmental and social factors, as well as influence of internal factors on their behavior such as their way of thinking and coping strategies. The personality traits play a vital role in determining behavior and methods of response. The previous studies have proven that personality traits have a vital role in determining the behavior of the individual in general and during disasters in particular.


The aim of the current study is to investigate the level of the satisfaction with life among the study sample who were affected by Corona epidemic, about their lives, and, to which extent this satisfaction is related to the Big five personality traits The current study recruited a sample of (407) people infected with COVID-19 (174) (42.75%) female and (233) (57.24%) male, age ranged from (18) to (71) with an average of (29.60) and standard division of (11. 83). Two scales were used, 5-item of satisfaction with life scale (SWL) (Diener et al.,1985) and (44) items of personality traits scale (John & Srivastava, 1999) represent of five subscales which is extroversion (8) items, Agreeableness (9) items, Conscientiousness (9) items, Neuroticism (8) items, and openness (10) items. The study found that the sample has less satisfaction with life than society with significant t-test (one sample). Moreover, there is a significant positive correlation between satisfaction with life and 4 personality traits, and significant negative correlation with neuroticism. The study recommends to paying attention when applying health programs in crisis times.
