Abstract

The current research aims to identify the nature of the relationship between cognitive tendency and conceptual sympathy among university students. The researcher relied on the descriptive correlational approach. The research community consisted of students from the University of Iraq - College of Education, numbering (2022). The researcher drew a random sample using the stratified random method, the size of which was (200), with (138) males and (62) females from both specializations (scientific and humanities). The researcher also built the cognitive tendency and conceptual sympathy scales, and the researcher verified the validity and reliability of the two scales to be ready for research. The research results showed that university students enjoy a high level of cognitive tendency and that students in the scientific specialization are higher than students in the humanities specialization in the level of cognitive tendency. The research results also showed a high level of conceptual sympathy, and there was no difference in the level of conceptual sympathy according to the gender and academic specialization of students. The results also showed a direct relationship between cognitive tendency and conceptual sympathy. The researcher presented a set of recommendations and suggestions based on the research results.
