Abstract

Education in Balad was primitive through the Kuttabs, then it began to develop with the establishment of the first official schools in 1923, which was Balad First Elementary School for Boys. With the increase in the number of students, the number of elementary schools increased, and intermediate schools were opened, such as Balad Intermediate School in 1950. Education in Balad also witnessed another kind of development represented by the opening of schools for girls and a number of other religious schools such as Sayyid Sadiq Al-Hindi School and the Muntada Al-Nashr Association School.
