Abstract

This study undertakes an analytical exploration of Arabic proverbs as documented in Majma' al-Amthal (The Collection of Proverbs) by Abu al-Fadl al-Maydani (d. 518 AH). The research is grounded in a theoretical framework that examines the cognitive dimension and mental imagery embedded within proverbs. It focuses on how these expressions form mental networks by integrating two distinct cognitive domains into a unified conceptual space known as the blended space. The primary objective of this study is to assess the role of conceptual blending in shaping human cognition and its influence on constructing linguistic reality. By analyzing the mechanisms through which conceptual integration occurs, the research aims to highlight its significance in language comprehension and thought formation.
