Abstract

Studying the geography of elections is one of the foundations on which no political process can be built. Studying it lays the foundation for any electoral process. From this standpoint, it has become necessary to clarify these components and the extent of their Influence and contribution to the conduct of the electoral process as a whole. Wasit Governorate is part of the Iraqi alluvial plain region, which is characterized by its flatness and low slope, which extends from the northwest to the southeast. The relative levelness is uneven in all its parts due to the presence of depressions that turn into marshes and water swamps in the winter, especially after rain and floods. Specifically in the west of the governorate, on the borders of Diwaniyah Governorate, and in the southeast of the governorate, specifically on the borders of Maysan Governorate, and in the lower southeast of Jassan district. The location of Wasit Governorate has an important role in influencing the size and area of the city, due to its location in the alluvial plain region and its proximity to several governorates, as its eastern borders are adjacent to each other. With the borders of Iraq, Iran, and Maysan Governorate. As for the western borders, they are adjacent to the governorates of Babil and Al-Qadisiyah, the northern borders are with the governorates of Diyala and Baghdad, and the southern borders are with the Dhi Qar governorate.
