The Anaphoric Reference of Pronouns in Adnan Al- ayegh's “Uruk's Anthem

Abstract

The present research, entitled “The Anaphoric Reference of Pronouns in Adnan Al-Sayegh's “Uruk's Anthem”," aims at examining selected extracts from the poem "The Uruk Anthem" by the Iraqi poet Adnan Al-Sayegh to reveal the linguistic functions of pronouns in four sections. These sections represent the confrontation between the poet's self and the other within the poetic text as an element of the anaphoric function of poetic language and to remove any ambiguity that may arise in the poetic context.
