Abstract

This study examines the strategic shift in U.S.–China relations between 1969 and 1974 through an analysis of the Nixon Doctrine. It highlights the political context, secret diplomacy, President Nixon’s 1972 visit to Beijing, and the Shanghai Communiqué. The study also explores the mutual benefits for both sides and how this rapprochement contributed to reshaping global dynamics during the Cold War. The topic was chosen for its historical and strategic significance, as it represents a pivotal turning point in international relations with a long-term impact on the global balance of power and the interactions among major powers.
