Spatial and temporal analysis of air pollutants from vehicle exhausts in the air of Baqubah city

Abstract

This research aims to discuss the measurement of concentrations of polluting gases within the city of Baqubah and their spatial and temporal variation in the air of the study area. The gas measurement process continued for two days in August 2023. This month indicates high temperatures and the spread of pollutant concentrations in the study area. The gas concentrations were monitored (carbon dioxide CO2,carbon monoxide CO, methane CH4). In all monitoring sites during three peaks (morning, noon and evening), and then comparing them with the permitted national and international environmental determinants, in addition to representing them by color gradient maps from the lowest concentration to the highest concentration for each gaseous pollutant and how it is concentrated in the study area sites in the form of categories. (Lowly polluted, moderately polluted and highly polluted) to show their spatial and temporal trends in order to determine the reasons and causes that affect their concentration levels, rising and falling, within the city of Baqubah.
