Abstract

This study aims to conduct a rhetorical analysis of the poem by the poet ʿAbd al-Raḥīm al-Burʿī, "Kulliftu bikum fafāḍa damī dumūʿan" (I Was Afflicted with Love for You, and My Blood Flowed as Tears). The poem incorporates most of the rhetorical devices and stylistic features found in classical Arabic rhetoric books. The poet skillfully transitions between different rhetorical techniques, shifting from one stylistic form to another according to the context and the demands of meaning. Al-Burʿī demonstrates mastery in the use of structures, figurative language, and rhetorical embellishments, making the poem a dynamic display of rhetorical artistry that captivates both listeners and readers.
