Abstract

Iraq suffers from time to time from dust phenomena that sweep across large areas of its territory. The emergence of these phenomena depends on convection currents above the Earth’s surface as a result of intense heating due to the large rise in temperatures, which leads to an imbalance in pressure and a rush of winds, causing dust to be stirred up. The main goal of this is The research is to study the frequency and general trend of dust phenomena in the Middle Euphrates region. The research shows that there are many negative effects of dust phenomena on human health and the environment in general. The research showed that the general trend of dust phenomena in all study stations indicates an increase, and the total number of dust storms for all study stations during the period (2012-2022) amounted to about (201) dust storms, and the most frequently occurring dust storms in the study stations is the Samawah station, as a result of its location near the western plateau region, and thus it is exposed to more frequent dust storms than other study stations.
