Abstract

One of the major issues affecting bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh has been the violence and displacement faced by the Chakma community in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The Chakma community resides in both Bangladesh and India. The violence has not only brought chaos within Bangladesh but also tensions and reactions from stakeholders on the India-Bangladesh border due to the alarming migration and displacement. Although India was among the first countries to recognize Bangladesh and has always maintained a close relationship, growing political conflicts and internal issues have led to disputes between the two countries.
