Abstract

Prince Faiq al-Khasa is one of the leaders who played a prominent political and military role in the Islamic East. He was born and raised within the Samanid court. He was of Roman origin and was brought from Andalusia as a slave, then entered the service of the Samanid princes. He became one of the influential men on the decisions of the Samanid prince, Rida Abu al-Qasim Nuh ibn Mansur (366-387 AH/967-997 AD), as he began to interfere in the dismissal and appointment of important positions such as the Ministry. The ambition of Faiq al-Khas increased until he began to struggle to obtain gains and high sovereign positions within the authority of the Samanid Emirate (261-389 AH/874-998 AD), foremost among which was the rule of the province of Khorasan. The political ambition that Faeq al-Khasah aimed for led him to clash with his Samanid masters, and he fell into the circle of accusation of treason, one of the indications of which was his collusion with the Buyids and with the Karakhanid state, the enemies of the Samanids. Moreover, this ambition and love of sovereignty brought him into a direct military clash with the Samanid emirate itself. But in the end, he corrected his political course and came to his senses, renewing his loyalty to the Samanid Emirate after the accession of Prince Abu al-Harith Mansur ibn Nuh al-Samani (387 AH - 389 AH / 989 - 998 AD), as he became one of its loyal men during his reign and also became one of the influential figures in managing its political affairs.
