Abstract

This research aims to study Ka'b ibn Zuhayr's poem ((Banat Su'ad)) pragmatically, by analyzing the structure of speech acts according to Searle's classification. The research seeks to reveal how the poet moves from speech to action through language, and how speech acts, such as (declarative, directive, obligatory, expressive, and declarative), contribute to building a strategy of apology and praise before the Messenger of God (peace be upon him). The research adopted the pragmatic approach, with the help of descriptive analysis mechanisms, to deduce the intentions behind the linguistic structure. It concluded that the poem was not merely an aesthetic literary text; Rather, it was a complex network of speech acts aimed at influencing the recipient and gaining forgiveness.
