Morphological research in the book “ The Problems of Mutaʾ Mālik Ibn Anas” by Ibn al-Sayyid al-Baṭalyūsī (d. 521 AH

Abstract

This research examines the morphological aspects found in the book, The Problems of Mutaʾ Mālik Ibn Anas” by Ibn al-Sayyid al-Baṭalyūsī (d. 521 AH) whose full name is ʿAbdullāh bn Moḥammed bn Sayyid al-Baṭalyūsī, known by his surname Aba Moḥammed, and renowned as a Al-Nahwi (grammarian). He was a scholar deeply versed in literature and languages, exceptionally proficient and precise in both fields. People gathered around him to read and learn, and he was known for his good teaching method, effective instruction, reliability, and accuracy. He authored many works, among them “The Problems of Mutaʾ Mālik Ibn Anas” This research is divided into an introduction and three sections. In the introduction, I discuss Ibn al-Sayyid al-Baṭalyūsī – his lineage, teachers, students, and works. The first section covers the structures of verbal nouns (maṣādir). The second section deals with derivation (ishtiqāq). The third section focuses on the verbs faʿala and afʿala (when they have the same meaning and when they differ in meaning
