Abstract

Fawzi Karim took care of his autobiography by highlighting the poetic ego as the main reference for the text, relying on memory and nostalgia to construct his poetic world, and making the experience of exile an existential focus that guides much of his writing. His autobiography does not stop at the boundaries of the personal, but goes beyond them to represent collective concerns linked to Iraq's cultural and political memory, making his poetry a dual document: personal/collective. Thus, the autobiographical approach in his poetry reveals a strong overlap between poetic confession and human experience, making his texts a model of poetry's ability to embrace autobiography and represent it in different aesthetic ways.
