Abstract

The study revealed a relative balance in the population's gender composition, with only slight differences between males and females. It also highlighted a youthful demographic structure—characterized by large numbers of young and middle-aged individuals and a notably low proportion of the elderly—reflecting high population growth rates in the district. Furthermore, the study showed that the middle-aged group constitutes the largest segment of the population, indicating a broad working-age base capable of supporting future economic activity. High dependency ratios were also observed, particularly in rural areas where the proportion of young people is high. Additionally, the median age indicator showed a marked low, standing at 22 years for the district. This underscores the youthful nature of the district's population structure. The study concludes that Al-Shirqat District is characterized by a young population base representing a significant development opportunity which requires capitalization through the provision of job opportunities and essential services to achieve sustainable development.
