The geopolitical importance of the Russian military base in Tartus

Abstract

The joint bilateral relations between the participants (Syria Cooperation) and including participation in full military participation with Russia in non-governmental organizations on Russian territory are looking forward to this due to the protection of Russian interests, the most important of which is the modernization of the Tartus naval base, which was established in 1971 thanks to the cooperation between the former socialist union and the Syrian government. This base is one of the most prominent elements in the world’s strategic importance, as it represents a permanent Russian naval presence in the Caribbean Sea in order to create a state of discord in this region. Russia’s access to the Atlantic will oppose any influence on its fundamental internal affairs from the permanent lease of this key facility
