Abstract

This study examines the complementary relationship between "textual-based preference" (*al-tarjīḥ al-atharī*)—aimed at resolving disputes and preventing semantic ambiguity—and "theoretical interpretation" (*al-tawjīh al-naẓarī*)—which embraces the linguistic and rhetorical breadth of the Arabic language to serve the objectives and guidance of Revelation. It proceeds from the principle that "exegesis relies either on established transmission or sound reasoned judgment," employing an approach that balances the methodologies of exegetes with the cognitive and practical constraints governing their movement between the text and the process of deduction. The study concludes by affirming the definitive interdependence of sound reason and authentic transmission, demonstrating that context and linguistic requirements serve as the safeguards protecting the text from either interpretive excess or rigid stagnation
