Abstract

This study, entitled Narrator and Dialogue in the Works of Klizar Anwar, presents a technical and analytical examination focused on two fundamental narrative elements in the novels of the Iraqi writer Klizar Anwar: the narrator and dialogue، These elements are explored as effective tools in shaping the artistic and semantic structure of the narrative، The research selects three of Anwar’s novels—The Blue Sheds, The Black Box, and The Wheel of Fire—as representative models to investigate the types and functions of narrators, as well as the forms and roles of internal and external dialogue, and their contribution to character development and the construction of narrative spaces. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical methodology to trace the types and transformations of narrators, and the patterns and functions of dialogue، It concludes that Klizar Anwar employs the narrator both as a means of asserting a dominant narrative perspective and as a vehicle for polyphonic narration، Furthermore, internal dialogue is used to unveil the hidden conflicts within characters, while external dialogue dramatizes social and existential tensions within a flexible, aesthetically conscious narrative structure. The study finds that the selected novels reflect a mature narrative awareness, in which the narrator and dialogue function not only as structural devices but also as aesthetic strategies that deepen meaning and enrich the reader’s experience through the multiplicity of voices and the
