Abstract

The style of attention represents one of the expressive methods that is commonly used in creative texts: both poetic and prose. It is perhaps one of the most frequent and widespread rhetorical colors in Ibn Zaydun’s Nunia This rhetorical phenomenon contributed effectively to breaking the sequence of poetic discourse at a single pace, and created a diversity of styles that helped Ibn Zaydun to convey the underlying feelings of his feelings towards his beloved in that poetic language that deviated from its narrow standard path into its broad, shifting space. The study monitored the patterns of attention in the poem, by extracting selected examples and then analyzing them linguistically, based on the context in which they appear. In order to highlight those syntactic transformations that occur in poetic discourse, to reveal the source of surprise and astonishment in each of the forms of attention contained in Ibn Zaydun’s letter, in the belief that the greatest function of this rhetorical mechanism is to create surprise for the recipient and attract his attention to the poetic discourse and its semantic content.
