Abstract

The study aimed to determine the effect of a reframing-based counseling program on reducing narcissistic rivalry among university students. This was achieved by verifying the following null hypotheses: - There are no statistically significant differences at the 0.05 level between the experimental group's scores on the pre- and post-tests on narcissistic rivalry. - There are no statistically significant differences at the 0.05 level between the control group's scores on the pre- and post-tests on the narcissistic rivalry scale. - There are no statistically significant differences at the 0.05 level between the experimental and control group's scores on the post-test on the narcissistic rivalry scale. The researcher adopted the Al-Issawi scale (2023), consisting of (30) items distributed across three domains. The researcher extracted apparent validity by presenting it to a number of arbitrators. For reliability, the test-retest method and Cronbach's coefficient of internal consistency were used. The researcher also used the reformulation method to reduce narcissistic rivalry. The number of sessions was (8), with a duration of (45) minutes, with two sessions per week. To verify the validity of this program, it was presented to a group of experts specializing in psychological counseling, who confirmed its validity in developing moral vigilance. The researcher reached the following results: - There are statistically significant differences at the (0.05) level between the scores of the experimental group in the pre- and post-tests on the narcissistic rivalry scale. - There are no statistically significant differences at the (0.05) level between the scores of the control group in the pre- and post-tests on the narcissistic rivalry scale. There are statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05) between the ranks of the scores of the experimental and control groups in the post-test on the narcissistic rivalry scale in favor of the experimental group.
