Overexcitability and its Relationship to Self-Awareness among Educational Counselors

Abstract

The current research aimed to identify the variables of overexcitability and its relationship to self-awareness among educational counselors. This was achieved by determining the significance of differences for each variable according to the governorate (Wasit, Salah al-Din), as well as exploring the correlational relationship between overexcitability and self-awareness among educational counselors. To achieve these objectives, the researchers developed an overexcitability scale consisting of (25) items, and a self-awareness scale consisting of (20) items. The current research sample comprised (200) male and female educational counselors who were randomly selected. The psychometric properties of the aforementioned scales were verified. For data analysis, the researchers utilized the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The results indicated that educational counselors possess a good level of overexcitability, while no statistically significant differences were found between the governorates of Wasit and Salah al-Din on the overexcitability scale. Furthermore, the results showed that educational counselors enjoy relatively high levels on the self-awareness scale, with statistically significant differences between Wasit and Salah al-Din governorates in favor of Wasit governorate. Additionally, the findings revealed a correlational relationship between overexcitability and self-awareness among educational counselors.
