Abstract
Summary of the research
This research aims to identify:
1-Competitive personality among outstanding students in middle school.
2-Are there statistically significant differences between middle school students according to the gender variable (males - females).
3-Are there statistically significant differences between middle school students according to the specialization variable (scientific - humanities).
To achieve the objectives of the current research, the researcher adopted the Competitive Personality Scale after it was translated from English to Arabic according to the theory of (Hairston 2002), after she followed the scientific steps in constructing it and verifying the apparent validity and construct validity. Reliability was investigated by retesting; The reliability coefficient for the competitive personality scale reached (0.76), while the Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient reached (0.82), and the scale was applied to a statistical analysis sample consisting of (60) male and female students chosen randomly from two schools (Al-Wajhiyya Preparatory School for Boys and Secondary School). Laila Al-Akhiliya for Girls) and when processing the study data statistically using (one-sample t-test and Pearson correlation coefficient).
The research reached the following results:
1-The research sample population has a competitive personality at a high level compared to the theoretical average of the scale, with a significant difference.
2-No statistically significant difference appeared according to the gender variable (males - females), which means that competitive personality is not affected by gender.
3-No statistically significant difference appeared according to the specialization variable (scientific - humanities), which means that competitive personality is not affected by specialization.
In light of the results, the current research came out with a number of recommendations and proposals
