Abstract
The current research aims to identify
1-Perceived loneliness among university students who smoke.
2-Perceived loneliness among university students who smoke according to the variable of specialization, scientific and humanities.
To achieve the objectives of the current research, the researcher built the perceived loneliness scale according to the theory and definition (Perlman and Peplau, 1982), after following the scientific steps in constructing it, verifying the apparent validity and construct validity, and reliability was verified by retesting; The reliability coefficient reached (0.76), while the reliability coefficient of the tool using the Alpha Cronbach method reached (0, 72). The two scales were applied to the basic research sample consisting of (60) students who were selected using a purposive method with equal distribution from two colleges: (College of Education for Sciences) Humanities, and the College of Science) at the University of Diyala, and when processing the study data statistically using (the t-test for one sample, the Pearson correlation coefficient, and the t-test for two correlated samples).
:The research reached the following results
1-The research sample has the perceived unity, because the calculated T-value is greater than the tabulated value, with a significant difference.
2-There was no statistically significant difference according to the specialization variable in the perceived unit; Which means that perceived loneliness is not affected by specialization.
In light of the results, the current research came out with some recommendations and proposals.
